On-Line Courses

We applied to Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council for grant aid to help us provide some on-line courses between January and March 2022 along with helping to complete our very popular Arts based programme.

We applied for £5,000 and were awarded a wonderful £4,500 and are very grateful to LCCC for their continuing support of our work. The on-line courses we would like to run are:

Wellbeing – a course programme of 8 classes, one daytime, one evening, managed by and experienced and well known tutor. During this worrying and challenging pandemic crisis, people will have some quiet space to relax and explore new ideas and skills to help keep them & their families well The course will look at overall health & wellbeing, including physical strength, boosting immunity through diet and gentle movement; emotional balance to manage mood and relationships and manage these changes; and mental stability to help build resilience and create coping mechanisms. The cost includes all classes and preparation required as well as a private half hour for those who wish to receive one-to-one advice and support from the tutor.

Art – a course programme of 8 classes for adults who will work online with an experienced tutor. The tutor will provide the outline drawing and materials, to be collected from the hall and the students who register will be invited to take part in a live introduction followed by a series of classes to help them complete the image. There will be access to the tutor for guidance throughout the programme and cost includes all preparation and guides. This will be as a follow-on course from the original one held. These classes will allow students to immerse themselves in an exciting new project which hopefully will support their wellbeing over the next difficult months.

Chi me – we will have an experienced tutor run a course of 6 Chime classes for all abilities. This tutor is already experienced in carrying out this type of class and the cost includes all preparation work. Chi Me is a series of Tai Chi influenced exercises and includes specific exercises which may aid in falls prevention. It can also help improve the following: Muscular strength, coordination, flexibility and relaxation, as well as helping create a wondering sense of wellbeing which can help improve quality of life.

Watch out in the usual places (webpage, Face Book page and notice-boards) for information on these courses as they become available. If you have left your email address with you, we will also let you know when they are coming on-stream.
